MSP Manufacturing, a premier manufacturer for the aviation, aerospace and defense industries, is celebrating 80 years of success in Indiana as a premier manufacturer of precision machined products.
Founded under the name Marion Screw Products in 1943 by Lester Pitcher, MSP was created to support the United States’ efforts during World War II. The company grew its manufacturing products, which can be found in virtually every commercial, corporate, cargo and military aircraft flying in the skies today. In 2002, John Goode purchased the company and moved its operations to Bloomington, IN.
Since MSP Manufacturing’s move to Bloomington, the company has expanded to serve six total divisions — Armory, Automotive, Aviation, Military, Medical and Sanitation. In addition to this expansion, MSP Manufacturing has won numerous awards and grants from some of the country’s most reputable names, including Boeing, U.S. Department of Defense and most recently – NASA.
Along with its monumental anniversary achievement, MSP is also celebrating a transition in leadership.
Effective January 1st, Johnny Goode, John Goode’s son, is the new President and COO of MSP Manufacturing. John Goode will stay on as Chairman and CEO.
“Johnny completed a remarkable turnaround, taking MSP from our worst year in 2021 to a very good 2022,” John Goode said. “We had our largest growth in sales, introducing new products with more new customers in new markets. I’m confident Johnny will continue to successfully grow MSP Manufacturing as an industry leader in precision.”
Before joining MSP, Johnny served as a Narcotics Detective for the Indiana University Police Department and a SWAT team member for the Bloomington Critical Incident Response Team. Johnny worked his way up the chain of command at MSP, starting as a Business Development Officer before accepting the role of Vice President in November of 2020 and then accepting the role of President and COO this year.
“It’s been rewarding to watch MSP grow over the last two decades and preserve its legacy for quality and excellence,” Johnny said. “We owe so much of our success not only to our employees but to our community members as well. We are proud of our 80 years of success can’t wait to see how we continue to fulfill our mission for the next 80 years.”
